Episode 49 - Alice Stevenson

This week on Triumph Beyond Trauma, Alice Stevenson joins the show to talk about the realities of medical discharge from the NSW Police Force—and the often hidden toll it takes on those going through it.

Alice served for 10 years across a range of specialist units, including Kings Cross, Crash Investigation, and Crime Scene. After being medically discharged due to PTSD, she co-founded Signal 2 Support, a charity that helps police navigate the confusing and often isolating discharge process.

In this honest and important conversation, Alice shares:

  • What it’s really like to go through a medical discharge

  • The gaps in support that officers commonly face

  • How Signal 2 Support is helping to change the experience

  • Why peer-led, independent help is so critical

Whether you're in the early stages of discharge, supporting someone who is, or simply want to better understand the challenges facing first responders—this episode is full of practical insights and compassionate advice.
