About Us

Hi there, I'm Rosie Skene and my passion is empowering First Responders and Veterans to embrace and improve their Mental Wellness.

I am the Founder of Tactical Yoga Australia and the creator of "The First Responder Mental Wellness Method." Bringing together my professional expertise and personal journey, I offer a distinctive approach to the program. As a Fully Qualified Yoga Teacher (300hr) and a medically retired New South Wales Police Officer, my commitment to mental wellness is deeply rooted in my own path of healing and recovery.

Throughout my 12 years in the NSW Police Force, I served in various roles, including Operational Safety Instructor (OSI) specialising in Weapons & Tactics, General Duties, Specialist Youth Policing, and Domestic Violence Policing.

My direct exposure to the challenging world of law enforcement has provided me with a profound understanding of the unique stressors and emotional challenges faced by first responders. My Marriage to an ADF Soldier has exposed me to the same challenges experienced by veterans.

Following my departure in 2017 and subsequent medical retirement in 2019, I focused wholeheartedly on my own mental wellness journey. Incorporating strategies suggested by my psychologist alongside yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness, I personally experienced the transformative benefits of these practices and moved from Post Traumatic Stress to Post Traumatic Growth without the need for prescription medications.

Motivated by my own transformation and driven by the aspiration to build a better future for my family, I pursued formal yoga teacher training in 2021, equipping myself with the necessary tools and knowledge to support others on their mental wellness journey. As a mother of three young children and a devoted wife, I understand the significance of balancing personal well-being with family responsibilities. My own experiences as a parent fuel my dedication to assisting first responders and veterans in finding balance and improved mental well-being amid their demanding personal and professional lives so that they too, can experience a balanced and stable life with their families.

Integrating my background as a Police Officer, OSI, and my expertise as a qualified yoga teacher, I developed "The First Responder Mental Wellness Method." My objective is to empower fellow first responders and veterans to enhance their mental wellness and discover strength in their healing process. With my unique perspective, having faced similar challenges, I aim to offer compassionate support and guidance to those ready to take steps toward improved mental well-being.

My passion and commitment to aiding first responders and veterans in cultivating resilience, relaxation, and enhanced mental well-being are evident in my program. Through "The First Responder Mental Wellness Method," I strive to create a secure and effective space for participants to explore and implement strategies that will positively impact their mental wellness.
